Beading Classes: February through July 2010

Basic Finishing Techniques: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday February 23rd; April 27th; June 29th 6-8pm

With an emphasis on technique, this class is a great overview for those with limited beading experience. You will learn to finish projects using beading wire, memory wire, elastic, and leather or satin cord. Complete three different types of bracelets and one necklace during the class time. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 1 adult 1x memory wire bracelet
  • 1 ft .5 mm elastic cord
  • 1 ft C-flex beading wire
  • 1.5 ft of leather or satin cord
  • 3 crimp beads
  • 2 coils or crimp ends
  • 2 clasp sets
  • 1 tube size 6/0 seed beads (for color variety choose a seed bead mix)
  • 1 charm with jump ring
  • 10 - 20 accent beads of your choice

Basic Earrings: $25.00 (includes materials)

Tuesday March 2nd; May 4th; July 6th 6-8pm

This is a great class for the beginning beader. Learn to make basic earrings, linked earrings, and wire wrapped earrings. A small selection of beads as well as base metal earwires are included in the class fee. If you have metal sensitivity you may want to purchase your own earwires ahead of time. You are also welcome to purchase or bring your own beads to work with.

Knotting with Silk: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday March 9th; May 11th; July 13th 6-8pm

Learn to knot between pearls or semiprecious beads. Restring the pearls you already have, or begin a new project. This technique can also be used to create spaces between your beads, making a "floating bead" necklace. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 1 strand of pearls or semiprecious beads
  • 1 card Griffin silk (ask for help with size)
  • 2 bead tips
  • 1 clasp and ring or clasp set

Herringbone Bracelet: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday March 16th; May 18th; 6-8pm

Herringbone is a classic stitch that can be either flat or tubular. In this class you will use flat herringbone to create a quick and easy bracelet. A fun button or bead of your choice makes a delightful clasp! Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 3 tubes of size 8/0 seed beads (three different colors)
  • 1 big eye needle
  • 1 spool of C-Lon Micro Cord
  • 1 button or center drilled flat bead for the clasp

Dancing Bauble Bracelet: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday March 23rd; May 25th; 6-8pm

Take your wire work to the next level! Use chain, wire and beads to create this fanciful cuff. You will learn fundamental wire working techniques including wrapping and loop making. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 1.5ft. chain
  • 1 package of headpins (approx. 50-60pcs are needed)
  • 13-15 8-10mm beads (these are the center beads)
  • 26-30 6mm beads (these go on either side of the center beads)
  • 39-45 4-6mm beads (these are the dangles on the sides of the bracelet)
  • 1 clasp set

Ladder Stitch Ring: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday March 30th; June 1st; 6-8pm

With this easy stitch you will quickly create a beautiful comfortable beaded ring in any size. Embellish with fringe or build up a beaded cabochon. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 1 tube of Miyuki size 11/0 seed beads (for edging and embellishment)
  • 1 tube of Miyuki size 8/0 seed beads or 1-2 strands of 3mm firepolish beads
  • 1 package of needles
  • 1 spool of C-Lon thread (size D)

Summer Fiesta Bracelet: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday April 6th; June 8th; 6-8pm

This class teaches the basics of wire wrapped loops while making an elastic or beading wire bracelet. Create multiple dangles to make a full bodied and colorful bracelet. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 1ft. elastic or beading wire
  • 1 crimp (or clasp set and 2 crimps for beading wire)
  • 1 package of base metal headpins
  • 1 tube 6/0 seed beads
  • 150-200 glass beads or 2-3 tubes of czech glass mix

Wire Wrapped Sea Glass (More new sections added!): $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Learn some useful wire wrapping techniques to turn your beach treasures into wearable pieces of jewelry! Bring your own sea glass or beach stones, or choose from our large selection to create your one of a kind piece. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • Several pieces of sea glass or beach stones (assorted sizes and shapes)
  • 1 package of 22 or 24 gauge sterling silver or gold filled wire
  • necklace cord or chain is optional

Retro Fringe Earrings: $25.00 (plus cost of materials)

Tuesday April 20th; June 22nd; 6-8pm

Create retro fringe earrings using brick stitch and Delica beads. Materials to be purchased before the class:

  • 1 tube size #2 Miyuki Bugle beads
  • 2 or more tubes of Miyuki Delica Beads
  • 1 spool of C-Lon size D beading thread
  • 1 package of beading needles
  • 2 earwires

General Information

**All classes are held Tuesday nights from 6-8pm (unless otherwise noted). The cost for each class is $25 plus the cost of materials. Please call to reserve your spot! The store phone is 207-761-2503 x211.

If you need any assistance in selecting your materials we are happy to assist you prior to the class time.

To reserve a space in a class you must pay the $25 class fee before class time. If you cannot attend a class please cancel 24 hours in advance and we will be happy to give you a credit for another class or merchandise.

Please note that all basic techniques such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. are still taught free of charge any time during our regular store hours. We reserve the right to cancel a class if our minimum number of three students is not met.
